After playing Field Head three times and each time losing by one goal after being in front they were the side that the Woolpack most wanted to beat. And with the news that four of last weeks absentees were back, the Woolpack were hopeful of a good result.

From last weeks heroic team, Martin, Dyson and Ramsden-Reilly dropped to the bench for Shaw, Arnold and Newburn to return to the starting 11. Ian Kilroy moved up front and Chris Lockwood kept his place on the wing with his new boots and tattoo on side.

The game started a some pace and Lockwood found a tiny bit of space on the right wing and swung a looping cross into the box which found Ross Hawkyard in some space who headed home. Since scoring 9 goals in his first 8 games that is only the second goal for Ross in 13 games. But the Woolpack needed to stay composed, and they didn't as within minutes it was 1-1. Battyes goal kick was easily won by a Field Head midfielder and his header forward found their number 9 clear through. Shaw managed to get back up with him but a lack of communication between defender and keeper gave the striker an open goal finish.

And it wasn't long before Field Head took the lead, this time Battye made a great reaction save from 6 yards which gave time for defenders to get back in the box, but somehow the follow up cross found a spare Field Head player who finished into the bottom corner.

At 2-1 down the Woolpack began pushing forward but they were getting beaten in the air every time by the tall Field Head defence and the only chances they seemed to get were long range shots, one in particular by Lockwood worked the keeper.

But as some pressure was building it all fell apart at the other end. A free-kick was floated into the box, and as Turpin stepped back with his man nobody else followed leaving three Field Head players free, one of whom finished with a neat header. This then caused a slight ruck between Turpin and Ginty who both picked up a yellow for their troubles.

Despite the height disadvantage a few aerial chances seemed to come at the other end, Arnold with a good header, and Stanger knocked a ball just over Turpins head. There was also a long scramble which resulted in a Field Head goal kick.

At half-time the Woolpack shouldn't been losing as badly as they were. It was 3 weak goals and an all-round lack of team spirit. So the second half they went out to turn the game around. Kilroy and Arnold swapped and they began sending more balls forward. Arnold had a few chances, one a fantastic volley just wide, and Hawkyard forced a good save from the keeper. Then against the run of play Field Head were given a goal by the referee that really shouldn't have counted. A throw-in from the top side landed straight into the back of the net, with the referee claiming it took a touch from somebody. This pretty much sealed the victory for Field Head and summed up the Woolpack's day.

But to try and get some form of consolation, Campbell and Ramsden-Reilly were brought on, and the pressure continued in Field Heads half. Now playing 3-4-3, and with Turpin practically joining the front-line leaving two at the back, the Woolpack still couldn't score. And eventually Field Head got another, this time from a throw-in at the bottom touchline, and this got a definite flick.

5 - 1 seems an unfair result considering the pressure the Woolpack exerted in the second half, but as has been said on many occasions, if they cannot finish their chances, or defend set-pieces then they do not deserve to win games.
