Subs: Newburn on for Linford, Kirby on for C.Lockwood, Herbert on for Martin

Man of the Match: Shaw - It was 100 miles an hour for the Woolpack defence and they all deserve extra credit, but Chris and Tom at the back were brilliant, and Chris made some big tackles that prevented double figures.

It's certainly not the best time of the season to be showing a lack of fitness but that, and overwhelming pressure gave Britannia an easy win in the end against Woolpack.

The first half started as expected, with Britannia pressing the Woolpack back, but their defence handled the pressure brilliantly in the first half, restricting them to shooting outside the box. With the pace and skill of Britannia almost ghosting past The Woolpack's midfield it was inevitable they were going to score eventually and it came at the 20 minute mark when Britannia's striker got the better of the defence and got through. His weak shot got a lucky bobble and bounced over Battye, falling to the number 9 at the back post for an easy tap in.

At this point the Woolpack had already been forced into two early substitutions with both Adam Linford and Chris Lockwood going off injured with Kirby and Newburn on in their place.

Britannia then scored their second with 10 minutes to go to half time with a well hit effort from the edge of the box beating Battye at his left post.

The Woolpack then broke forward for only the second time in the match, the first should have resulted in a penalty when Dean Arnold was brought down in the box. On this occasion though he wasted no time in firing a shot into the top corner after Ross Hawkyard laid it off from Martin's long pass. It's a contended for goal of the season as he took it on his chest, then knee and finished from outside the box.

This should have spurned the Woolpack onto an equally well battled second half, and it seemed to start well, with Scott Newburn doing well down the right and Arnold making some good moves in the middle. But the pace of the Britannia number 9 was starting to cause all sorts of trouble at the back and eventually he got round Martin and made it 3-1. They soon followed in with a fourth and The Woolpack were looking tired and fed-up all over the pitch.

Then the onslaught came. Britannia notched up 4 goals in quick succession, some of which Battye really should have done better with, and others that couldn't be stopped. When Britannia got a ninth with minutes to go some players were ready to give up, but Ross Hawkyard got a rare chance and finished well despite complaints of a hand-ball.

Britannia then hit the post twice and Calum Campbell had a late sprint down the left and fired a brilliant shot which the keeper saved.

9-1 was probably an unfair result for the efforts of some Woolpack players, but as a team they were beaten by a much better side whose pace and passing ability allowed them to almost play around The Woolpack. Now with 4 games in a week they need to find some fitness and team spirit to get through it and try to win back fourth spot. First up, fourth placed Meltham!
