The Woolpack are really pulling together at this late stage of the season after the bad defeat at Meltham they have now got 2 points from the top two sides in the league.

After the great result at the weekend against Barge Albion they tried to keep as similar a line-up as possible. With Turpin injured, Chris Shaw moved into defence allowing Bradley Ramsden-Reilly back into midfield. Tom Crowther and Daniel Farrand were both missing so Calum Campbell returned from injury and Ritchie Hawkyard was available on the wing.

From the off the Woolpack looked the more dangerous side, mainly through Hawkyard down the left as he won a succession of free-kicks, and whenever he got through the tackles he caused a threat. The only threat at the other came from Barr Streets big man in midfield going unchallenged and his flick-ons were going over the head of Daniel Martin, but Chris Shaw managed to clean up at the back. To neutralise this threat Ross Hawkyard took the big guy and he went on to win every header. This came a little late as one of his flick-ons caused some problems in the box and Shaw was judged to have fouled and a penalty was given. It was a very weak penalty decision by the referee who seemed to be struggling with a slight colour-clash in kits. The penalty was smashed down the middle and it was 1-0 to Barr Street.

The Woolpack were still looking good on the counter attack, but their main chances came from long range shots, Ginty, Arnold and Ross Hawkyard all testing the keeper. Then, a cross from Ritchie Hawkyard was knocked through by Arnold and Bradley Ramsden-Reilly ran through to score his first goal of the season.

With the sun glaring down on the Woolpack goal, the last 5 minutes of the first half were very tense and difficult at the back, with Barr Street hitting the post and bar.

At half time Barr Street had a kit change to avoid any confusion and the second half kicked off with both sides fancying their chances. The Woolpack seemed to be having most possession but it was Barr Street who looked most threatening, and they should have been given a penalty when Calum Campbell mistimed his tackle in the box, but the referee gave a free-kick - this maybe made up for the first penalty incident.

But Barr Street were then further frustrated by the referee when a quick break saw the striker get the better of Shaw for the first time and he lobbed the ball over Battyes head, it looked to have crossed the line when Cosgrove (on for Ramsden-Reilly) booted it away. This obviously rattled Barr Street and the Woolpack began a succession of attacks down the right flank ending in a goal for Ritchie Hawkyard who flew in from the left to head the ball over the out-stetched keeper.

At 2-1 with 15 minutes to go Barr Street began to push forward and brought some fresh legs on, but The Woolpack didn't seem in trouble, with Dave Ginty dropping deep and between them the defence cleared everything. This was until a ball played back in by the midfield landed at 3 players in the box, with at least 2 looking to be in an offside position. As most players stopped the Barr Street striker headed the bouncing ball goalwards and it dipped into the top corner and it was 2-2.

Now with 5 minutes to go it was Barr Street with the momentum and they pushed everyone forward looking for a winner, but it never came. 2-2 seemed a fair result for the efforts of both sides. Obviously the referee had a big part to play, denying Barr Street a fair goal and a penalty, but they also scored a dubious goal and got a weak penalty earlier on.

The last two games may have a bigger impact on the league than anyone could have expected. The Woolpack gained 2 points they didn't intend on getting, and they have also cost the top sides points when it really matters. With 3 games to go it all it to play for.
